Virginie Michielsen is the head of Marketing and Communications at Deloitte Luxembourg leading a team of around 25 specialists. In her current role, she is responsible for the vision and strategy of the firm’s communication activities and its positioning in the market. Prior to joining Deloitte Luxembourg, Virginie led the Corporate Communication and Relations department of ING Belgium where she headed a team of over 60 specialists in internal and external communications, corporate sponsoring, events and corporate social responsibility. Virginie has also a strong background in the financial services industry, having been the Managing Director for commercial banking at ING Belgium from 2007 until 2011, and gaining over 20 years of experience working in this field in Brussels, Amsterdam and main financial centres in Asia, such as Singapore, Hong Kong and Mumbai. She has a university degree in applied economics with a specialisation in financial and general management from the University of Antwerp and holds a post-graduate degree in European history, politics and law from the Institut Hautes Etudes Européennes in Strasbourg. Virginie is an active associate of several organisations, being a board member and vice president of the Union Royale Belge/Belgisch Koninklijke Vereniging and responsible for the Belgian Business Club Luxembourg. She is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Indian Business Chamber of Luxembourg, and board member and vice president of the Belgian Indian Chamber of Commerce. She was the first woman in Belgium to become president of a Rotary Club in 1996, having joined the Rotary Club Antwerpen Amerloo in 1992.
